This simply isn’t true. Making some simple changes can go a long way in retention of site users. Maybe you just need to reorganize your site content in a way that makes your users come back. Or maybe you’re missing a key piece to your site that catches the eye. You don’t need to completely revamp your whole site every couple of years.

However, there are some people who like the idea of getting a fresh look for their site every few years. It’s okay to do that if you remember some simple rules.

You should not change your branding.

The branding of your site and business is what gives customers and viewers a sense of what you provide them. It allows them to remember you and keeps them coming back.

Your logo should be a constant for your site and business.

This goes along with branding. You don’t want to keep changing your logo. Many people are visual. That means they don’t look for your company name as much as they look for the logo associated with your company. A logo is the familiar site you see when at the grocery store. When you see that huge wall of products and can quickly locate your favorite because the logo is right on the front of the package.

Change up the color scheme and layout of your site.

If you have the desire to give your website a completely new look, that’s great! Try a new color scheme and layout. Bringing a new color scheme to a website is a lot like repainting your house. And having a new layout is similar to moving your furniture around. So go ahead and update that curb appeal!
