When you view your site on your phone, does it look small and unreadable? Do you have to make the page bigger to see anything? If so, you probably need a responsive site update.
But what does responsive mean? When users view your site on a desktop computer, the screen is nice and big. They can see every little bit of detail that you’ve designed on your site. As the world moves towards a mobile world, we are all buying smartphones and tablets. Users, more often, are reaching for their mobile device to browse the web.
What does this mean for you and your site? Well, since users want to have access to websites on their devices, they aren’t looking at your website on their desktop computers so much anymore. If you want to keep your users happy, engaged, and coming back to your site, you’ll need to make sure your site can be viewed on any mobile device. This means transitioning from a massive amount of information on your homepage, to a scaled down version that serves up the most important information your users want to see.
If you are a restaurant owner, you’re website should have the menu clearly available as one of the first things your users can see. But this doesn’t mean you need to scrap all that wonderful content you’ve been showing on your site. Simply move the content to a more suitable location. For instance, the history of your restaurant could be located on a page called, “About Us” or “Our History”. Then, users who want to read about that information, can simply go to that page.
By moving somethings around and giving your site a more updated look, you can increase page views and increase the likelihood that your visitors will keep coming back. Making your site organized and useful for mobile devices makes both your life and your users lives better.
