The Latest Web Design Trends I Love

One-page Site Designs

One-page, long scroll designs are quickly becoming the hot look for websites. This look is especially great for sites with only a minimal amount of content. The standard used to be websites with at least 3 or 4 pages. However, with the one-page designs, website creators can add everything a site needs just to one, long, scrollable page. The popularity of this design began when mobile devices started becoming the standard way of viewing websites. One-page designs can feed all the important information to the viewer through an interactive and seamless experience.

HD Hero Images

The days of using standard stock photos for websites has gone away. The new design standard is using high definition, high quality images. The Hero Image (or large background image at the top of the site) is no exception. Website creators are using everything from high def product images to large scale landscape photos that give an immersive feel to the page. These high quality images, when used correctly, give the visitors an engaging visual experience that pulls them into the content.

Creative Hover Animations

Websites used to have hover states that would make a link change color or have an underline. But now, hover states are much more interactive. Web creators are utilizing animations to bring buttons and images to life. Scrolling over a button may make it pop upwards, or spin, or even fade into something completely different. All of these subtle animations make the user interact more with the site and keep customers engaged longer.

Page Loading Animations

Do you remember the old loading icons? It was the hour glass, or the spinning wheel, or the really old loading bar. Well, these days, websites are using creative images for their page loading icons. There are analog clocks that tick the seconds away, there are pictures that pop up in the middle of the screen, and some sites are even using their logo as a loading icon. No more boring loading screen to look at while you wait for content.

Useful Modals

Some modals are used in a way that can be annoying to visitors, however, the useful modals that pop up from a link for a contact form or subscription can be refreshing. By using modals properly, you can set up your site so the visitors don’t ever lose their place. For instance, if you want people to sign up for your newsletter, don’t send them to another screen. Simply give them a link to click for sign up and then use a modal to get all the necessary information. This is also helpful on restaurant websites. If you want your customers to be able to make reservations, you can give them a button to click for reservations and then a modal can pop up to gather all the details of their party. When they close the modal, they will be right back where they left off.
